Gorgeous Alaskan Yellow Cedar! Highly impervious to the elements AYC is prized for it's work ability and longevity. Beautiful to behold, organic in nature, the best in outdoor wood.
Fine grain, soft color, as hard as Douglas Fir, excellent for interior millwork.
This material was generated as part of a US Forest Service study in SE Alaska. The goal was to establish strength and resilience of Alaskan wood fiber in comparison to other domestic species. Included in the study were fresh sawn, salvage and standing dead logs. The FS also did test studies on using Alaskan Yellow Cedar as bridge material throughout the Tongass National forest. It is excellent for this type of application being very rot resistant and totally organic.
